Alicia Allison is an Herbalist and Embodiment Educator with 20 years of experience in the healing arts. She has specific expertise in working with plant medicines, nervous system education, parts-work, breath practices and conscious movement. Her rich understanding of the human experience has come from studies in yoga and somatics, therapeutic approaches to trauma and complex PTSD, her connection to the natural world and her own healing journey.

Through the holistic modalities she works with, Alicia gently guides people inward where they can come to know themselves, their patterns and the needs of their unique bodies without judgement. She believes that learning to regulate one’s nervous systems is the keystone to health and inner freedom.

She feels particularly called to support others in reclaiming their lives from trauma and chronic pain; she believes that by uncovering the fullness of one’s story, we recover our true Self. Her work with seekers may include all of the modalities mentioned above or simply just one; she believes healing work must unfold in an intuitive and collaborative way, with clear intention and support, but without agenda.

Prior to focusing on her private wellness practice, Alicia supported over 100 families and newborns through the sacred first forty days of life as a Postpartum Doula. The intimacy and intensity of this work provided her with the skills to support people through transformative processes and major (often messy) life transitions. It also gave her a unique understanding of the significance of our prenatal and birth stories, early attachment experiences and the impact of our lineages on our lives and bodies.

As a plant medicine and ceremonial guide, Alicia values and integrates modern scientific research but will always first honor and acknowledge the wisdom that has come to us from indigenous, folk and traditional healers. For her, working with any form of plant medicine is a collaborative process with the spirit that is Earth.

Alicia’s home is full of spices, cats and some very happy houseplants. She has a great love of poetry, myth and metaphor. She is particularly grateful for the love she has found through deep and lasting friendship. She is currently based in NYC but works with people worldwide.
